Milan-Cortina 2026: a Winter Games across two cities
The 25th Winter Olympics ran from 6 to 22 February 2026, split across Milan and the Dolomite resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo. It was the first Winter Games to span two cities, with ice events in Milan at the new PalaItalia Santa Giulia and mountain events two hours away in Cortina. 91 nations competed across 116 medal events in 16 sports. Norway topped the medal table for the third consecutive Games, while the United States had their strongest Winter Olympics total since Salt Lake City in 2002.
