Is Palworld 1.0 the most consequential Early Access graduation ever? Two and a half \

years after one of gaming's biggest surprise launches, Pocketpair exits Early Access on July 10, 2026 with 27 pages of patch notes, a doubled map, a proper endgame, and PvP. Minecraft, Hades, and Satisfactory all had remarkable graduation moments, but none of them hit 2.1 million concurrent players in their first weekend. Drop your take: biggest ever, or just the most hyped?

The World Tree Opens

Since January 2024, a giant World Tree has loomed on the horizon of the Palpagos Islands behind a red barrier that felt like a promise. On July 10, that barrier comes down. The World Tree becomes the primary endgame zone, stocked with high-level enemies, rare resources, and story fragments Pocketpair calls pieces of a "grand narrative." Alongside it comes a new Sky Islands region built for vertical exploration: floating landmasses accessible only with the right flying mounts or the new Wing Pack. Together these two additions roughly double the playable landmass compared to the original launch build.

Wing Pack unlocks. The biggest quality-of-life shift in 1.0: for the first time you can glide and fly without spending one of your five Pal party slots on a traversal creature. The Wing Pack is its own gear slot, leaving your full party free for combat and base work.

What Is Completely New

Tower Boss Battles have been rebuilt from scratch: each fight now takes place in a region-themed arena rather than the copy-pasted dark tower room, bosses shift strategy mid-battle, and defeating one opens a post-fight recruitment quest that lets the boss Pal join your party. A Genetic Recombination breeding system lets you combine specific traits across Pals with more control than before. Server Clustering connects dedicated servers into a shared world. Sanctuaries have been rebuilt with unique ecosystems, rare Pals, and their own barrier and drone defense systems. A full PvP mode arrives, following the limited PvP zones added in the Sakurajima update.

Your Palworld 1.0 launch checklist

0%

- Check your platform. 1.0 launches simultaneously on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. PS5 is brand new to Palworld. Game Pass is included from day one.

- Existing owners pay nothing. If you bought the Early Access version on any platform, 1.0 is a free update. No upgrade purchase required.

- Decide on your save. Pocketpair will not wipe saves, but they softly recommend starting fresh to experience 1.0 as designed from the beginning. Your existing world carries over if you prefer to continue.

- Clear 100 GB of storage. The 1.0 update is substantially larger than any previous patch. Estimates suggest 100 GB or more on top of existing installs; confirm your free space before July 10.

- Plan your launch timing. 1.0 goes live July 10 in Japan, which translates to approximately 8 PM Eastern on July 9 for North America. Pocketpair has not confirmed the exact hour, so watch their official channels the evening of July 9.

- Read the patch notes. All 27 pages. Even a skim will surface mechanics that changed quietly: tailing and eavesdropping missions no longer have instant-fail states, combat has been reworked, and Pal wielding is expanded.

- Grab the card game separately. The Palworld Official Card Game, built with Bushiroad, launches worldwide July 30, 2026. Separate purchase, separate hobby.

Nintendo lawsuit update. The patent lawsuit filed by Nintendo and The Pokemon Company in September 2024 is still ongoing, but it has been effectively defanged. Nintendo narrowed its claims in November 2025 to cover only older game versions that predate Pocketpair's changes. Legal analysts estimate maximum damages around 30,000 USD. No injunction has been sought against 1.0 or any current build. A court opinion is expected November 9, 2026.
